Dear collegues,
Almost three years ago we concluded the last BMBD conference in Maine, USA. The meeting was a success, with many novel studies being presented and exciting collaborations started. It is now time for us to plan the next international conference of Biochemical Markers of Brain Damage to be held in Lund, Sweden on May 11-14th, 2009.
Since 2005, there has been considerable scientific progress in the field of brain biomarkers. For the first time in medical history, brain biomarkers are presently being used in clinical patient management. Furthermore, significant progress has been made in the field of hypothermia, pediatric brain injury, neurointensive care and stroke. Also, many new promising biomarkers have emerged and expanding bodies of evidence acknowledges their potential. Never has this scientific field been given so much attention and even medical practioneers outside the research community are showing a growing interest for these biomarkers.
We are now seeing the fruits of more than 15 years of basic and clinical research and we invite you to the next international BMBD conference to experience these breakthroughs yourself. The meeting will be a rare opportunity to hear from the leading experts from around the world in their respective fields.
Regards,
Bertil Romner and Pelle Johnsson
